The speakers at Virtual Tech Day
Dr. Luigi Saputelli is a proactive and Industry recognized leader in digital upstream applications with 32 years of experience in the oil industry and a significant contributor to cutting-edge reservoir technology, delivering new protocols for field development activities, reservoir, and production management.
He possess an outstanding academic background in petroleum engineering and am a graduate-level lecturer and possess 25+ years of active involvement in the Society of Petroleum Engineers and serving in numerous high-ranking positions in technical committees.
He has published over 100 papers, 9 patents and 5 books.
Swarup is an experienced Strategy and Transformation professional, with ~fifteen years' experience spanning a range of industries. He brings a unique combination of strategy, digital transformation, and commercial skills, and has served major organisations on a spectrum of issues, from making strategic decisions with confidence, through to leading change to deliver bottom line outcomes.
Espen started his career in a company that made software for the oil and gas industry. He always liked technology and software, so this blend of tech and science was excellent.
Now 15 years later he is still working with software and IT within E&P. Espen has managed several products, found countless bugs, worked with company strategy, promoted innovation and change, learned the ins and outs of the IT business.
Jung Chan Choi is a senior researcher with over 10 years of expertise in geomechanics modelling and uncertainty quantification in the fields of petroleum geomechanics and CCS geomechanics.
His research interests are in quantifying the mechanical behaviour of subsurface rock or soil using computational methods. He has extensive research experience in both geomechanics and carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) projects. He has contributed significantly to various European and Norwegian research projects on CCS as a project coordinator and work package leader.
He is the author or co-author of more than 20 scientific peer-reviewed papers and has supervised PhD students at a university in Oslo.
In addition to his research experience, he has extensive experience in consulting various geomechanics challenges worldwide, including Norway, Malaysia, Tanzania, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
Tore is a senior software engineer at Cegal with a Ph.D. in geoscience combining 8 years of R&D experience.
As a software engineer, he has developed desktop applications, web applications and python libraries; components of a hybrid-cloud software suite that enables data analysis.
As a researcher, he has worked with large and small geospatial data sets to produce explainable and useful quantitative models. I have done two internships at the exploration department of Statoil Harstad, and first-authored three scientific publications.
Thibaud is a Senior Data and Digitalization Consultant at Cega, and has a Ph.D. holder in Health Science with a focus on applied molecular modelling. He is an innovator at heart, merging his experimental acumen as a trained structural biologist with nearly a decade of experience in diverse data modelling, and machine learning, spanning biological, chemical, housing, and energy sectors.
Odd Erik received his PhD from
the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and he has
applied AI in the industry, mostly for startups, since 2006. Odd Erik has conducted several analysis of reproducibility in the artificial intelligence and machine learning literature and has developed guidelines for this in data science. Currently, he investigates how AI can be applied in the renewable energy sector.
Thomas has worked internationally in different research institutions in the UK, Germany and Norway specializing in geology and geochemistry. He gained knowledge of a wide range of analytical, laboratory and data analysis techniques.
His research combines field observations, analogue experiments, the collection of high quality geochemical data sets and modelling techniques using Excel, Python and R.
Dorzhi Badmaev is an experienced reservoir engineer with degrees in Applied Mathematics and Petroleum Engineering involved in various projects in several countries such as Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, The Netherlands, North and West Africa, and Middle East region in reservoir engineering and hydrodynamic simulation. Recently he participated in development of AI/ML, data driven solutions for reservoir management, optimization of waterflooding and reservoir analytics.
