An Integrated Machine Learning Framework for Multi-Scale and Multi-Domain Applications in Geosciences by Paolo Dell’Aversana, Eni SpA
This presentation will introduce a robust and comprehensive machine learning framework that integrates the strengths of diverse algorithms. The platform leverages ensembles of cutting-edge models, such as Self-Aware Deep Neural Networks, to enhance classification and prediction tasks. Additionally, it incorporates specialized tools for decision-makers, including Deep Recurrent Neural Networks, Multivariate Analysis, and Reinforcement Learning, empowering managers to determine optimal policies in complex scenarios. This versatile software platform is designed for a wide range of applications in geosciences, adaptable to various spatial scales and objectives. I will briefly highlight several applications, including mineral thin section analysis, microfossil classification, geophysical data interpretation, and well log analysis.

John is the Global Commercial Director for Geoscience Products. Responsible for Cegal's Geoscience go-to-market strategy, portfolio budget, customer experience, and sales performance. John has 12+ years of experience in Petroleum Geoscience and Digital Technologies and a passion for the energy industry, software technologies, cloud computing, and geoscience innovation.

Rebecca helps our customers overcome their technical geoscience challenges and meet their subsurface data management goals by connecting them with Cegal’s unique software and services. As a geologist, she can understand customer needs and find the right solutions.

Ewan has an MSc in Petroleum Geoscience from Imperial College and over 20 years of industry experience, including more than 10 years as a Geologist. He is a Domain Expert in Cegal's Data Products and the Cegal Data Program. Ewan has worked for various technology and operator companies, contributing to the scaling and improvement of data tools and solutions in the industry.


Joanne is an experienced Geophysicist with more than 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. Joanne joined Cegal’s team in March 2024 as Technical Sales advisor and works closely with customers to ensure they extract as much value as possible out of Cegal’s Geoscience and Data Management products portfolio.

Adam brings a wealth of expertise, holding a BSc in Petroleum Engineering, an MSc in Geoenvironmental Resources & Risks, and an MSc in Geology for Energy. His experience as a Junior Geophysicist at Blue Nile Geophysical in Sudan, along with his roles in teaching assistance and customer service, make him exceptionally well-equipped to help our customers succeed with Cegal tech.

An enthusiastic multi-domain geoscientist with over 20 years of professional experience covering a broad range of roles with leading software companies supporting the oil and gas industry. He enjoys working with clients to analyze their challenges and develop software products to meet their specific needs.


As Product Marketing Lead for Cegal, Julie spearheads the company's product portfolio's marketing strategy. With more than 18 years of experience in petroleum geoscience, product management, sales and marketing, and digital technologies, she brings a unique blend of skills to her role.


Kersti has more than 20 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, complemented by a broad background in product management and business development. As the head of the Software business unit at Cegal, she is at the forefront of driving the company’s strategic vision, spearheading initiatives that deliver exceptional business value to customers in the energy industry. Through her leadership, Cegal is committed to foster innovation and lead with technology and expertise in an ever-evolving market landscape.
